Microsoft SQL Server is one of the enterprise-level database products available today competing against Oracle and MySQL. The product was originally based on SyBase. MS SQL Server v6.0 was the first version running on Windows NT and was not related to Sybase. MS SQL Server 2000 was the first edition that shipped with a 64-bit version.
An Microsoft SQL Server check requires the following parameters:
- Services - A list of Microsoft SQL Server services that should be running on the target server;
- Processes - A list of Microsoft SQL Server processes that should be running on the target server;
- Performance Counters - A list of MS SQL Server performance counters that should be monitored;
- WMI Performance Counters - A list of Microsoft SQL Server WMI counters that should be monitored.
